TMS320C6713B: TMS32C6713BZDPA200 About failure risk

Part Number: TMS320C6713B

Dear Sir or Madam,

When using this device, "TRST" is Open, "RESET" is energized at High level (normal operation setting)

You may have unintentionally set "EMU1" and "EMU0" to Low (set to Boundary Scan) at the same time.

As a result, the DSP operation became unstable. (Fails to start, or stops immediately after starting)

Will it affect the cause of operational instability?

Thanks, best regards.

Tatsuaki Nagayasu

  • If TRST is unconnected, it is internally pulled-down.  So this should not be an issue.   However,  the datasheet states that:

"The DSP can be placed in Functional mode when the EMU[1:0] pins are configured for either Boundary Scan or Emulation."

If the signals are transitioning, this may lead to an undesired state of operation.

You should force the EMU pins to  known high state, or disconnect the driving source, to see if this resolves your issue.

  • Hi,Paul

When I got into this situation, I realized that other signals were transitioning and I was in an undesirable operating situation.

I'll have to be careful when handling the probe from now on...

Once I disconnected the DSP, it worked normally, so I replaced the parts.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate it.
