Hello,

I have some questions about running the keywriter SYSFW on an HS-SE device to burn additional fuses after having already converted the HS-FS part to HS-SE. Namely, I would like to understand:

1) Can the keywriter TIFS binary be built into a HS-SE tiboot3.bin and then be booted the same as it was on the HS-FS part?

2) Is there a list available of TISCI messages supported in the keywriter TIFS? I am specifically interested in doing additional device verification in my keywriter R5 app using DKEK and SA2UL TISCI messages.

Hello Garrett,
1. TIFS for OTP-KW is
- one special TIFS intended only for running OTP KW on HS-FS.
- different from the TIFS for normal booting on HS-FS.

2. The TISCI API supported by the special OTP-KW TIFS
software-dl.ti.com/.../keywriter.html

3. The TISCI API supported by the normal TIFS
- available on both HS-FS and HS-SE
software-dl.ti.com/.../extended_otp.html
- available only on HS-SE
software-dl.ti.com/.../otp_revision.html

Hi Hong,

Regarding 1), is it not possible to burn additional fuses (other than SWREV and KEYREV) on an HS-SE device? An example use-case would be burning the BMPK fuses only if there was a problem with the SMPK on a set of HS-SE devices.

Regarding 2), so a correct understanding is that *only* the keywriter message is supported by the keywriter TIFS, and there is no way to access the DKEK or SA2UL with the keywriter TIFS running?

Hi Garrett,
A1. The TISCI APIs for OTP efuse programming on HS-SE is listed in my last reply: SWREV, KEYREV, KEYCNT, the extended OTP.
But B-key set (BMPK/BMEK) is programmable only with the special OTP-KW TIFS on HS-FS. The main reason is B-key set is protectable with the FEK available only with the special OTP-KW TIFS.

A2. TISCI API "TISCI_MSG_KEY_WRITER" is available only with the special OTP-KW TIFS, but the DKEK/SA2UL is not available with the special OTP-KW TIFS.

Hi Hong,

Thank you for the explanation and clarifications. To make sure I fully understand, you are saying that there is no way to boot OTP-KW TIFS on an HS-SE part, and so the BMPK fuses can only be burned on a device in HS-FS state. Is that correct?
