AM35xx DDR2 Setup: VTP Calibration?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3505

Hello

I have read the wiki on setting up the EMIF4 DDR2 interface on a AM3505, see http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Setting_up_AM35x_SDRC_registers.

It mentions a VTP calibration process, which is nowhere described (TRM, wiki). It also claims, that the setup process is implemented in the am3517-evm kit software, available at:

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/sdk/AM3517/latest/index_FDS.html

But then it also says that the VTP-calib step #3 is not implemented in the linux code...

Question 1: What are the steps to performa a VTP calibration?

Question 2: Is the VTP calibration process initiated by setting the VTP_DYN bit in EMIF4_DDR_PHYCTL1 ?

Question 3: Is this the complete VTP calibration process?

Thanks and kind regards,

-Urs

  • Urs, the steps are detailed in the wiki.  When this wiki was written, VTP calibration was not a part of the linux code, but it may very well be in there now.  The calibration is kicked off by setting the VTP_DYNAMIC bit.  This sequence should be followed after each DDR PHY reset to properly compensate the DDR I/Os.
