How to do Audio with DM6437?

Hi,

I would like to ask a question on audio ability of DM6437.

If I want to record/play audio on DM6437, which peripheral should I use? Is there a unique dedicated peripheral for this, or several, or none? DM6437 is titled as a Digital Media Processor, so I presume it is capable of audio tasks, but is it true? In detail, how? And how does digital binary signal translate to audible sounds on a DM6437-installed device?

Zheng,

You can use either the MCASP or the MCBSP. The MCASP is the preferred dedicated audio peripheral. You will need to have an ADC to convert the Analog to digital signals such as the TI AIC33 (http://www.ti.com/product/tlv320aic33).

Please take a look at the DM6437 EVM as an example on how they integrate the AIC to the mcbsp/mcasp.

There are also Audio example code in the EVM sample code package.
