TDA2P-ACD: CPU frequency

Part Number: TDA2P-ACD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65917-Q1

Hello colelagues,

My customer is facing the issue with TDA2P-ACD device:

An issue we have encountered with the TI TDA2PSXVQACDQ1.

According to the model number and its detailed explanation in the datasheet[1], the MPU is expected to support a maximum frequency of 1500 MHz. The model breakdown is as follows:

TDA2PS: ADAS 2nd Generation Super Tier

X: ADAS Superset

V: 1500 MHz maximum MPU frequency

Q: Full temperature range: -40°C to 125°C

We understand that there are five MPU Operating Performance Points (OPP) levels:

MPU_OPP_LOW

MPU_OPP_NOM

MPU_OPP_OD

MPU_OPP_HIGH

MPU_OPP_PLUS

Initially, we read the required voltages for the respective OPP levels and then accordingly set up our PMIC output.

Upon reading the CTRL_WKUP_STD_FUSE_DIE_ID_2 register, which is part of the chip's eFuse configuration on the OCP interface, with an efuse_offset of 0x020c, an efuse_mask of 0xf80000, and an efuse_shift of 19, we retrieved the value 21.

This leads us to understand that this MPU is only capable of operating at the MPU_OPP_NOM level, which corresponds to a frequency of 1000MHz.

We have not employed any drivers for the PMIC LP87565, but have instead manually set up voltages based on the values we obtained for MPU_OPP_XXXX.

Our concerns are as follows:

1- How is it that this device, supposedly capable of running at 1500MHz, is only operating at the MPU_OPP_NOM level, which is limited to 1000MHz?

2- How can we accurately assess the actual frequency capability of this device?

Thank you,

Daria
