AM6442: migration of old silicon to MCU+

Part Number: AM6442

my customer is asking for our SDK strategy:

We are developing silicon revision 1.0 with the AM6442 EVM and there're already many boards of the same generation in production.

As we have learned, we can only develop with MCU+ SDK 8.6 from now on.

The security system is always active in newer SDK and silicon revisions.

Is is right, that we will soon have to replace all the hardware in the field so that we don't get stuck on the old SDK!

Is there any TI information or instructions on how to handle this and how to update 'old' HW in the field?

Thanks and bye

I missed responding to this. I'm checking with the internal teams on what the plan is towards SR1.0 to SR2.0 migration and wrt SDK support for these different revisions of the AM64 SoC.

  • Karan:

I have also notified of one of the SOM suppliers wrt AM6442A* versus AM6442B* silicon differences, so there will be quite some interest to make the eventual response an FAQ as well. Suggest you consult with Sitara marketing manager Brian Berner before disclosing.
