J784S4XEVM: Time-stamp counter for R5F

Part Number: J784S4XEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TDA4VH

Hi TI experts

Setup:

Part number is J784S4_TDA4VH
Evaluation board is J784S4XG01EVM
Boot mode is SD Card (with uboot and Linux image)
Target configuration file used : xxx_NO_GEL.ccxml
CCS v12.6 is used.
SDK RTOS 9_01_00_06 is used

Goal : Use time-stamp counter

I've found one for C7x in c7x.h (__TSC), but i can't found the same for R5F. Does it exist the same for R5F ? If yes can you say me where is it ?

  • Hi Victor,

I am not sure what you are looking for? Are you looking for a Global Timer Counter, or a core-specific time-stamp counter?

Which c7x.h file are you referring here exactly? I am assuming this is from within the C7x Compiler.

  • Hi Suman,

I'm actually looking for both of them. First for R5F core and then for Arm core. It need to be precise (more than usec)

    Yeah it's from C7x compiler folder, I've found him under : "ti-processor-sdk-rtos-j784s4-evm-09_01_00_06/ti_cgt_c7000_3.1.0.LTS/include"

  • Hi Victor,

I am not sure if you are looking for core-specific TimeStamp providers or a common TimeStamp provider within the SoC.

The J784S4 SoC has a Global TimeBase Counter (GTC) peripheral that is common in the SoC. The SoC also has a number of DMTimers in the SoC, which are typically used to provide the OS Tick timer.

The Cortex-R5F and Cortex-A72 cores are mostly standard IPs from Arm, so they do come with Performance Monitoring Units (PMUs) as well.

Does this answer what you are looking for?
