SK-AM68: Improve boot time on AM68-SK beyond 7 seconds

Hi,

Using falcon mode and core-image-minimal, cold boot time (from power on to first screen image) is taking about 7 seconds.

Is there a way to improve boot time further? We would like to hit at least 5 seconds.

I am assignign to our expert who will further comment, But would like to check what is the booting media used? Also where does the file system reside?

Hi Praveen,

I'm currently booting from an SD card. In our final design we intend to use octal spi with an eMMC.

Evan,

The octal SPI will surely make it much faster at least 1 Second faster than SD card. As SD card initialization takes up time.
The other optimizations I suggest are:

Remove prints - UART prints take a lot of time.
Remove unused devices from DTS
