Network programming in OMAP-L138

Hi,

I have CCSv4.2.1 (free licensed) and working on OMAP-L138 with xds100v2 emulator. My aim is to establish an ethernet link between ARM9 of OMAP to external Laptop. Can anybody suggest a few APIs in SYS/BIOS that can be used here. Is it required to purchase any special license for this?

  • Hi Prat,

You should download the NDK (Network Developer's Kit) as well as the corresponding NSP (NDK Support Package) for the OMAPL138.  Please find them here:

  • Hi Steven,

Thanks for the links. I downloaded the kit from there.

I have a data acquisition board from National Instrument and want interface it with our ARM9 of OAMP-L138 EVM kit. The interface can be through either Ethernet or RS-232 MUX. I am able to acquire the data in MATLAB and proved my concept and want to re-do it in C67xx of OMAP-L138.

Now the question is how to go ahead. What are the things that I should know about this board from the vendor? So that I can interface it with ARM9  through say Ethernet.

One more question I have is how much is the latency in acquiring through Ethernet here in OMAP-L since my algorithm is intolerant to latencies of even 1 or 2 samples.

  • Prat,

I am seeing that you didn't get any further response on this thread, but reading over your question, I'm not sure this query is really best suited for the BIOS forum.  You might get a beteer/faster response by posting a fresh query to the OMAP-Lxxx forum.  You also might get further on your Ethernet related questions by looking for more generic help on the web.

  • Hello David,

I just finished the job at hand and now focusing on the ARM9/OMAP-L138 ethernet connectivity using NSP package support under SYS/BIOS. Can I use NSP under SYS/BIOS and target ARM9? Could you please clarify it today so that I can ahead?

    With warm regards,

    Prat

  • Prat,

Yes, the NSP has driver support for the ARM9 on the evmOMAPL138.
