Hi,
Is there an example to use an external loop on the Eth. like the SuperLooper (as was in the case of the C6474)?
Thanks,
HR

A simple loop back plug isn't sufficient to get the loopback for the GigE phy. This is covered pretty well in the following post.

Hi HR,
If the post answered you question could you do me a favor and mark this one as a verified answer?
Thanks, Bill
Hi HR,
As I understand it the Layer 2 (L2) loopback involves swapping the source and destination addresses in the MAC frame of a received packet and then retransmitting those frames back to the network. Are you asking whether we can act as an L2 loopback devices for incoming packets from the network?
Regards,
Bill
Bill,
I want the C6678 to handle packets based on L2 only which means that probably I need some kind of SW running on the PC that swap the source & destination address, Is there such an example foe th c6678 and a PC sw for the MAC exchange?
Thanks,
HR
As far as I know there isn't any example software for that function. I will check with the software team but I would suggest you start a separate post with that question in the subject line. That will reopen the thread and draw the attention of the software team.
