TDA4VM: How to transfer data between PC and TDA4VM board through Ethernet?

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi Team,

My requirement is to transfer data from PC to TDA4VM board and vice-versa through Ethernet for my application.

I have referred to the demo application "Ethernet Firmware differentiating features demos", there 2 PCs are connected to TDA4VM board. One PC is acting like server and other PC is acting like client.

But my requirement is different, I just want to transfer data between one PC and one TDA4VM board. Please could you guide me the correct approch to achieve the same.

Regards,
Harib

  • Hi,

I have referred to the demo application "Ethernet Firmware differentiating features demos", there 2 PCs are connected to TDA4VM board. One PC is acting like server and other PC is acting like client.

Those are example demos from TI SDK to illustrate the functionality of CPSW.

But my requirement is different, I just want to transfer data between one PC and one TDA4VM board. Please could you guide me the correct approch to achieve the same.

You can connect the PC to TDA4 and run DHCP in PC so, that TDA4 CPSW get the IP.

You can ping from PC to TDA4 or you can also run iperf for TCP or UDP to Linux Client when you are using Ethernet Firmware.

If you are using Native Linux Driver then you can perform the same from A72 Linux.

Also, TDA4VM has two instances of CPSW as CPSW2G in MCU Domain and CPSW9G in Main Domain.

Ethernet Firmware based Server & Virtual clients (remote client cores) is only supported for CPSW9G.

If you want to transfer custom data from PC to CPSW, you have to develop/write an application to transfer the data via Network interface and connect the PC to CPSW and run application from PC.

Linux has few applications like ping, iperf you can use those as well.

Please refer to Linux SDK documentation for Native Linux Driver and supported features.
