AM6442: High-Level Reset Flow

Part Number: AM6442

Hi Support Team,

In the current design concept, M4FSS will be used for general-purpose (GP) or not used.

In Figure 5-477 of the TRM, it states Do Not Use SW_MAIN_POR_MMR as the process in this case,
but I do not understand the reason for this.

If it is not necessary to use it, it should not be described as Note:,
however, if it is used, what would be the effect?

Best Regards,
Kanae

  • Hello Kanae,

In Figure 5-477 of the TRM, it states Do Not Use SW_MAIN_POR_MMR as the process in this case,
but I do not understand the reason for this.

    Sorry for the delayed reply.

Actually, there are two ways we can do POR on AM64X devices.

So, one possibility is the MCU_PORz pin and another one controlling the SW_MAIN_POR bits in the CTRLMMR_RST_CTRL or CTRLMMR_MCU_RST_CTRL register.

So, in GP mode or non-isolation  applications, users can't do POR with the help of controlling SW_MAIN_POR bits in the MMR Registers.

Users can do POR with the help of an MCU_PORz pin only in GP mode.

Users can do POR  with the help of SW_MAIN_POR bits in CTRL_MMR registers and MCU_PORz Pin  in Isolation Mode.

    Regards,

    Anil.
