How can I improve the H264 performance?

I use DM368 to encode the video.The input is 1600x1200,YUV data.

If I set the bitrate is 5M,the performance is very good even if I move the image .

if I set the bitrate is 2.5M, the performance is also good with the still image.

But if move the image ,the performance is very bad .

There are more blocks in the video streams.

I do not know why.

The dvsdk is 2.10.01.18.The h264 codes is 02.30.00.01 and the release followed by this codec is validated .

Hi,

The parameters look fine. Looks like 2.5M is not sufficient to provide a decent quality. Can you post a sample clip in which you observe blocks?

Sorry for missing out this. have you been able to solve this ? Can you send the clip instead of snapshot ?

Also, we would like to know the parameters used while encoding, we can review it and reccomend the best setting.

In these days,I changed some parameters .I thought I have solved the problems.

But I do not know the settings are the best or not .

I changed the "rateControlPreset" from "IVIDEO_STORAGE " to "IVIDEO_NONE " .

And the "rcalgo" from "0" to "3".

Hi,

IVIDEO_NONE means fixed QP, with this, the encoder encodes the stream with same quality and there is no bitrate control. In case your application does not have restriction on bitrate, this setting may be OK. Or else you may have to go back to previous setting and increase the bitrate to gain quality.
