AM3352: AM335X:Linux kernel 497 days problem

<System Configuration>
SOC:AM3352BZCZA100
SDK:Yocto Linux kernel 5.4.106

We are concerned about 497 days problem that occures when CPU's 32 bit counter is overflowed.
We heard that the glitch is depend on kernel version.
If you know about that, please let us know which kernel vesion is free from this problem.

Hi Bin,

Thank you for your quick reply.
This problem is widely recosinized for computer with 32 bit CPUs.
Operating system like linux has 32 bit counter to record uptime variable.
This counter increment every 10 ms after CPU start working,
Then after 497-days , counter is overflowed and back to 0. This phenomina affects some application programs.

This glitch seems be all about Linux system, not processor, but we appliciate if you have any information or any countermesurements about this.

Hi Tsukada-san,

uptime uses kernel jiffies counter, which has been updated to 64-bit in very early version of 2.6 kernel (2.6.12?) about 2 decades ago. So kernel 5.4.106 should not have this 497-days uptime overflow issue.

oh, okay, I just noticed you do have 497 days problem. Is it in uptime, or some where else?
