Hello,

I have the following two questions about the AM67:

Is hardware acceleration supported for decoding MJEPG frames that are received from a USB camera?
Can VPAC work on raw data from memory (rather than from a MIPI interface)? If camera data is coming from a USB camera in MJPEG format, can this be converted into Bayer encoding and be fed into VPAC?

Hi,

I can answer second part of the question. yes, VPAC does support reading input data from memory and convert it into YUV format. As far as i know, there is no support for convert MJPEG decoded data into RAW Bayer in SDK, i wonder why you want to do this...

Hello,

The VPU h/w IP on the AM67 does not support decoding MJPEG or any processing with the MJPEG format. Only H264 and H265 encode/decode is supported by the h/w accelerator. However, if this is using Linux you can use the GStreamer software decoder plugin, jpegdec, to decode the MJPEG format.

Can the GPU in AM67 do JPEG (not MJPEG) decode?
Is there a gstreamer package that does HW acceleration for JPEG decode?

Hi Jackson,

1. The GPU uses OPENGL to execute rendering and other graphics based use-cases. If you have an implementation using OpenGL APIs for JPEG decode then you can integrate that to the stack.

2. There currently is not a supported GStreamer package available for h/w accelerated JPEG decoding. You would have to provide the GStreamer API and integration to OpenGL to implement with our GPU. If this is using Visionapps then the integration should be associated with a node as well.
