The Linux distro used for the Edge AI SDK is Arago, which is a TI distro using the Yocto Project. Our SDK includes a dockerfile that will allow you to run package managers like apt. Thank you to answer me. But if is possible, we don't want to use Docker environment on our application. We need to use a linux distro with Real-Time working. We are thinking about your processor SDK  Linux RT J721E of the link: https://www.ti.com/tool/PROCESSOR-SDK-J721E.

Do you know if it works with SK-TDA4VM board and if the distro of this SDK permit the use of package managers?

Hi Victor,

PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-RT-J721E is only supported on DRA829 and TDA4VM, not SK-TDA4VM. The only SDK supported and validated for SK-TDA4VM is PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-SK-TDA4VM.

Hello, Fabiana! Thanks for the answer and the link with the comparison of the two boards.

I noticed that in your documentation there is information that this SDK does not apply to this board, but I did not fully understand why apparently the SDK applies to the processor, but not to the Starter Kit, is that really right? If so, isn't this something that ends up inducing the user to buy the wrong board?

If you see your website for the SK-TDA4VM product, in the "software development" section, the SDK's indication is PROCESSOR-SDK-J721E, which is indicated for the TDA4VM processor. Look: https://www.ti.com/tool/SK-TDA4VM

My team has currently installed and loaded the PROCESSOR-SDK- mentioned above on the SK-TDA4VM, making it possible to access it, but now I need to know what limitations there will be when using this SDK on this Hardware. Could you explain to me? 

I could notice too that exist two ways to install the SDK on SK-TDA4VM. One with install.bin file and another with wic.xz file. Could you tell me the difference of witch one and if this SDK can work by Real-Time OS?

Hi, Fabiana. I founded this yocto build way yesterday. I'm going to use this one on my project. Thank you.

I'm trying to build with Yocto, but the process is taking so long. I've been spending all night on it, but I still cannot build the OS. Do you know what's happening? I'm trying to implement the RT support with each SDK from the link you provided.

First, I tried with linux-ti-staging-rt. It built successfully, but I couldn't find the correct image file to create the SD Card. After that, I tried tisdk-core-bundle, tisdk-default-image, and tisdk-edgeai-image, but each one takes so much time, with less than half of the build time completed. Is this normal?

I've already changed the Yocto build configuration to work with parallelism, but it's still taking too long to complete the build

Please expect the Yocto build to take about half a day depending on the PC and especially if its the first time you're building.
