Hi,
I got a question from my customer.
They uses only Video Port 1(OLDI) and Video Port 2 (DPI) is not used in their system.
They think PLL17 is used only for VP2, so want to disable PLL17. Is this OK?
Thanks and regards,
Koichiro Tashiro

Thank you for the query.
The DPI signals have multiple function and the DPI function should be off by default.
Is there a reason you would want to disable the PLL17?

Hi Sreenivasa,
Is there a reason you would want to disable the PLL17?
Simply because to reduce power consumption and noise generation.

Thank you.
Please refer below inputs i received from the expert.
I’d be a little curious why they are asking.
By default PLL17 is disabled and external bypass is enabled, which means the output of PLL17 will be the bypass frequency of 25MHz.
Not sure why it would be enabled in the first place if they are not using it.

Hi Sreenivasa,
By default PLL17 is disabled and external bypass is enabled, which means the output of PLL17 will be the bypass frequency of 25MHz.
According to the customer, TI SDK enables PLL17 for DPI as default for TI EVM.
The customer reuses that code, so PLL17 is enabled.
Is this OK to disable PLL_ENABLE bit in PLL17_CTRL register?
or
disable CLKOUT_EN bit in PLL17_HSDIV_CTRL0 register?
