AM625: SPI NAND support

Part Number: AM625

#1. Why not support QSPI NAND boot?

Actually I saw many discussion about it for long time, it should be supported already, especially in this thread:

https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1286328/am625-spi-nand-on-qspi-not-working-in-u-boot

#2. Is the NAND (1-bit mode) corresponding to SPI/1-1-1 mode in TRM?

Did not see such information in SDK user guide.

#.3. Is GD5F1GQ5UEYIGR supported for boot device? can it work in either 1 wire or 4 wire mode?

  • 1/. OSPI and QSPI are supported in ROM and u-boot/kernel in general
    2/. yes.
3/. refer to the internal JIRA ticket jira.itg.ti.com/.../K3ROM-7923
"Serial NAND doesn’t have a JEDEC standard which specify the memory configuration and modes.
For example, for serial NAND from Winbond, Micron…, QE bit is not used for 4S mode. On the other hand, QE bit is used for 4S mode in serial NAND device vendors, i.e. Gigadevice, Toshiba/Kioxia, Macronix, Longsys…

One of option we're exploring is configuring BOOTMODE pin to start with 1S-1S-1S for ROM to load "tiboot3.bin" from Serial NAND, and re-configure in u-boot SW for 4S mode etc..."

Please keep the JIRA ticket (K3ROM-7923) content for internal reference ONLY.

  • Hi Hong,

No worry, I can't see this Jira ticket also.

Is there other limitation on QSPI NAND flash supporting? such as frequency limitation?

  • Hi Tony,
Per our offline conversation, I've shared one e2e for some details on the topic for your reference.
Let's catch up offline for any further questions.
    Best,
