Range Imaging with DaVinci

Hi,

I am planning to do range imaging with the DaVinci processor. I have a couple of general questions.

  • Would it be possible to connect two cameras to the DaVinci and process the information in real time (on the DSP or ARM) ? Has anybody tried this before? (stereo imaging)
  • I found some libraries in the TI wiki to do image processing on the DSP. Do libraries exist that support range imaging and stereo triangulation and active/passive triangulation on the DSP or the ARM? What image processing libraries (also third party) are available in general?

Right now I am running Ångström Linux on the DaVinci , but haven't done any image processing yet.

Thanks in advance

Lucas

  • Lucas,

IMGLIB and VLIB that are mentioned on the wiki are the only two DSP optimized libraries provided by TI on C64x+ and C674x+ DSPs. VLIB does have some functions on stereo imaging that you can use. For third party software you can search on www.ti.com/3p. Considering you are using linux ,it appears you are working on the ARM. I am not aware of any ARM side image processing libraries but there might be some libraries that are neon optimized for Cortex-A8 based platforms.

For your question regarding the number of camera inputs supported,  can you specify which DaVinci device you are using and the type of camera that you are trying to connect?

    Regards,
