SK-AM62A-LP: ISP tuning procedure for monochrome image sensor

Part Number: SK-AM62A-LP

Hello Team,

We are planning to use Monochrome camera sensor for one of the Machine Vision application. I am referring "AM6xA ISP Tuning Guide" for tuning procedure. In this document tuning procedure for RGB sensor is mentioned but not able to get steps for Mono sensor. please help me with ISP tuning guide for Monochrome sensor.

Thanks & Regards,
Viral Shah

  • Hello Viral,

The auto exposure configuration outlined in the Tuning Guide should apply to monochrome sensors as well. Please be aware that a new revision for the ISP tuning app note has just been released: https://www.ti.com/lit/sprad86a. This revision has more detailed information about exposure configuration.

For a monochrome sensor, AWB, color correction and edge enhancement do not apply. Other plugins described in the app note should apply to monochrome sensor. In addition, DPC and LSC (not discussed in the app note) should apply as well. You can find tuning guide for DPC and LSC from the tuning tool.

    Regards,

    Jianzhong

  • Hi Jianzhong,

Sounds good, can we do LDC correction also for monochrome sensor?

Can you suggest any monochrome sensor which is pre-validated by TI for SK-AM62A-LP EVM?

    Regards,
    Viral Shah

  • Yes, you can use LDC for monochrome sensor.

We've validated OV9281 on AM62x, and it should work on AM62A as well.

  • Hi Jianzhong,

    Thanks for confirming.
