USB testing on AM3505

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3505

Hi there,

I have a customer using AM3505, he have the following question:

They are asking, since the AM3505 is USB 2.0 compliant, so how did TI do the test?

1) Did they pass to external party to do the test? If so can share the file to do testing or teach them how to do testing?

2) Did the do the test themselves? if so can share the file to do testing?

3) Can they send out a board to TI and get TI to help to capture the USB eye pattern?

Please help to advise.

Thank you in advance.

Adam

  • The USB certification procedure is applied to a final product.  The USB certification procedure defines system level tests that evaluate all portions of the USB system.  The semiconductor is one of several components that may influence the performance of the USB system.  The power supply, printed circuit board, connectors, cables, ESD, and noise suppression are examples of other such components.

TI performs portions of the USB certification tests internally using various reference designs but the results are not published.

TI does not perform USB testing of customer products.  There are two options for getting a USB product certified.  One option is to take your product to one of the USBIF sponsored workshops which occurs four times per year and the other option is to contract a third party test facility that is recognized by USBIF to test your product.

  • Hi Paul,

you mentioned that " TI performs portions of the USB certification tests internally using various reference designs but the results are not published."

What is the reference design that TI uses? Are you able to share?

    Thank you in advance.
