AM620-Q1: Initial attempt to program through UART unsuccessful

Let me rephrase your attached images here.

So, initially you were facing problems because of the images not being hs_fs.

But once you switched to hs fs you saw improvements, this is because your device type is HSFS.

     Yes, on Friday I located the script to ID the chip and got the following:

     It is HS-FS.

     I will try the instructions at the second link to see if I can complete the flashing sequence.

     Am I using the correct config file for AM620-Q1.  The goal here initially is to attach the CCS debugger.

Hi Jim,

Can you please check if XModem is installed or not?

If not, can you run this command:

python -m pip install pyserial xmodem tqdm --proxy={your proxy server web-link and port}

I am also assuming you have a Python 3.x version.

I am checking this internally, basically I am looking at if the images of am62x-sk or am62x-sk-lp should be used.

Post this I will follow up with you with additional debug steps.

Hi Jim,

You can go ahead with am62x-sk.

I would like you to replace the release.hs_fs images with debug.hs_fs images in the config file you are using in this case default_sbl_null_hs_fs.cfg.

Also, when you see failure while flashing, I would like you to got to CCS(Code Composer Studio) > Make a target configuration file for AM62x with correct board selected > Load the target configurations > Connect to the R5F_0_0 core > Load the symbols present at MCU_PLUS_SDK_INSTALL_PATH>examples>drivers>boot>sbl_uart_uniflash_multistage>sbl_uart_uniflash_stage2>am62x-sk>r5fss0-0_nortos> Pick the debug.out image.

Once you do this, can you check where the program is hanging?

Also could you share a screenshot of the same?

As per your CMD output, I see you are not using hs fs images, please use the file default_sbl_null_hs_fs.cfg if your device type is HSFS.

Or did you switch to GP version?

If I change the images from release to debug (on line 20 and 32) I get the same error.  If I leave those at release, I get the following:

I reviewed our custom board schematic yesterday and discovered we have no OSPI Flash.

One of your co-workers suggested the am62x-sl-lp packages would be more appropriate for me to start with because our custom board contains NAND Flash.  Out custom board has DDR not LPDDR SDRAM.  So, one of the issues is our hardware doesn’t match either the am62x-sk (DDR & NOR Flash) or the am62x-sk-lp (LPDDR & NAND Flash).  Out custom board contains DDR SDRAM and NAND Flash.

How should the UART Flash script be modified to accommodate for this difference?
