TMDSEMU560V2STM-U: Code Composer Studio V3.3 Questions

Part Number: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U

Tool/software:

  1. Customer has been developing a software using Code Composer Studio V3.3 and they are uncertain whether newer version 6.0 will be compatible with their application.

Please review following requests and provide your feedback:

    1. Per your website, version 3.3 is available as a free download.
      - Is there a need to purchase a license for personal / enterprise usage?
      - Is version 6.0 also offered as free for personal / enterprise usage?
      - Whether it is available to purchase a license for the KIT version (Please check PN if possible)
    2. Customer is planning to use V3.3 along with DSP IC(PN : SMJ320C6203GLPM20).
They had previously used HW TOOL PN: XDS560R, which is now obsolete.
      - Would currently active DSP PN: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U be fully compatible with Code Composer Studio V3.3?
  • Is there a need to purchase a license for personal / enterprise usage?

There is no need to purchase a Code Composer Studio v3.3 license for use with C6x DSPs.  You can download it here:

Is version 6.0 also offered as free for personal / enterprise usage?

Yes this is also available without needing to purchase a license. This version does have a license manager built in as back when this was released it did require a purchased license.  However that is no longer the case and a license file can be provided to enable free use.

Any reason why you want to use CCSv6 vs something newer?

Would currently active DSP PN: TMDSEMU560V2STM-U be fully compatible with Code Composer Studio V3.3?

No this is in general not compatible with CCSv3.3. If you contact Blackhawk I think they have a way to enable it with this old version.  However the XDS560v2 (TMDSEMU560V2STM-U) does not support C6203.  Trying to find an older XDS510 (or an XDS560R) may be a better option.
