Hi,

Would you pls share the rough estimate on boot timing when the SOC is booted using eMMC when compare the OSPI device. I have the boot timing value for OSPI. But, if someone share the approximate boot timing using eMMC then it will be good.

Hi Arumugam,

We don't have a ready-made example in the RTOS SDK that will allow you to provide the boot performance numbers on eMMC. The SDK supports the example only for OSPI, which is definitely faster than eMMC.

The main difference will come in the read-times between the two boot-media, as the flow after reading the binaries into On-Chip SRAM or DDR will be the same between the two.

You can take a look at the PDK Data Sheet for the read performance/throughput numbers between the eMMC and OSPI to get a rough idea.

Thank you. It seems like OSPI is 4 times faster than eMMC approximately.

Yes, roughly based on just the regular read performance/throughput data.
