AM6442: MCU_I2C0_SCL/MCU_I2C0_SDA pull required in GPIO mode?

According to sprsp56g_Datasheet am6442 April 2024 revG.pdf table 5-80, these MCU_I2C0 pin requires Pull Up.

Is it mandatory to have these pull up even if these pin are used in GPIO mode (MCU_GPIO0_18/MCU_GPIO0_18)?

Hello Thierry,

Thank you for the query.

These are open train output type buffers and the receivers are enabled by default.

A pullup is required irrespective of the IO configuration during power-up

When used as a GPIO, you will need a pullup when configured as output

If configured as input and the input is being actively driver after reset, a pullup is not required.

Hello Thierry,

Please note these open drain IOs have slew rate requirements specified when used as I2C or as IO that connects to a fast rising input.

An RC is recommended.

Please refer TMDS64EVM or SK-AM64 schematics to implement the RC delay.

The above requirements are valid for I2C0_Sxx I2C interface also.
