TMS320C6671: Looking for a similar replacement with automotive temperature range

Hello,

I have had a very good impression of TMS320C6671 in terms of performance and MSM SRAM size, and I am looking for a device that could provide similar performance while meeting the automotive temperature range (Q1 qualification would be very good, but not mandatory). Is there any C66x-based device that has similar internal SRAM size/speed, is equally suited to bare-metal development and has a wider temperature range?

Hello Praveen,

I was using this table for my research; while it was very helpful for most criteria, I had a bit of trouble finding out which devices can run bare-metal. Which keyword in the "Operating System" column implies bare-metal support?

Hello Ricardo,

All the devices listed in the table would support bare metal.

The term "Operating System - OS" determines this device's standard TI SDK support we provide. As such, one can write their code from scratch (Without any OS, i.e., bare-metal) and get it compiled for running on these devices.

Thus, may I assume there is a TI SDK for baremetal development unless stated otherwise (e.g. the notice regarding Sitara AM335x and K2G)?

Last question for the moment: Is there any manual or application note describing memory latencies inside TDA3x chips? I would like to compare them with latencies presented in SPRACV1B (AM64x/AM243x benchmarks).

Hi Ricardo,

The SDKs are provided for what is listed. So, it is not available unless it is stated.

Bare-metal code is normally included in the RTOS SDK, but not always.

Regarding memory latency app notes for TDA3x devices - All App notes must be on their respective device page's technical document section on ti.com. So we don't have one what you are asking.
