CCS4 with BIOS 5.41.10.36 LOG_printf doesn't display time stamp

Hi, try increasing the log buffer size. Compare your project settings versus a bios settings from basic examples. They fine working.

I had such a problem.  After fully reinstall CCSv4 it has been resolved.

I increased the buffer size by x16 and checked the settings against an example. They were the same. However I still don't get any timestamp.

Does that mean I need to uninstall then reinstall CCS4?

Hi,

You are using simulation platform or some eval/experimental board? In second case may be needed checked the bios configuration file. It may be differ from config of bios examples. Try check timestamp on the example with sim platform, if it work then your project config is wrong.

If you windows7 user, try turn off UAC or start CCS with admin previleges.

I am using a custom board with the OMAPL138 processor.

I've seen a similar situation with the Zoom EVM except that the timestamp is a copy of the ID not 0.

This tcf file actually includes a couple of *.tci files ... can you please attach these as well?

The call to CLK_gethtime returns 0 as confirmed by reading the TSCH register.

Unfortunately I do not have an image of the application on the Zoom EVM as this was noticed during a TI DSP_BIOS course I attended a few weeks ago and the application was contained in the course notes and labs. I raised the issue then but was not given an explanation. The course tutor said he would look into it but I am still waiting.

This could be ok.  The TSCH register only increments once the TSCL register wraps.  Can you try changing the call to CLK_getltime()? (notice "l" instead of "h" in function name).

Then, check to see if it matches what's in the TSCL register?

I added the following line into my code and after a few attempts (no LOG display) a sensible number appeared in the LOG display.

"time = %d",CLK_getltime());

However both TSCH and TSCL are zero.

Can you check to make sure your systemTick is incrementing under ROV.  Its located under the KNL module (see below screen)

Can you check to see which Timer you are using to run the BIOS CLK module.  You can find this in the CLK Manager Properties - "Timer Selection" when you open up your .tcf file with the GUI editor.  Then you might want to monitor the actuall timer registers to make sure they don't get corrupted.

Timer0 base address: 0x01c20000

Timer1 base address: 0x01c21000 (I believe this is the default)

Also, are you using a GEL script? Does it contain timer initialization code?

The systemTick is incrementing in ROV->KNL.

I am using Timer 1 and register 0x01C21010 is counting up and resetting as expected.

I am not using a .gel file. I am starting my app on ARM to a while loop in main, loading the symbol table and running the debugger from the next line.

Postscript to this thread is that the "Enable high resolution timer" and "Use high resolution time for internal timings" were not selected on the DSP BIOS clock manager properties.

Time display burst into life as soon as they were ticked.
