We are using UART5 for connecting with a USB to UART connector , but getting PMIC issue (PMIC not turned on ) when TX is connected . In our design it is a direct connection , no level translator or isolator is used in the lines . We noticed in ,most of the reference designs level shifter is used in UART lines . Is it mandatory to use level shifter or isolator for UART interface ?
