Nand boot issue on DM8148 EVM

Hi, I’m trying to boot DM8148 EVM in nand boot mode.

I’ve compiled the u-boot images (u-boot.min.nand & u-boot.bin) as per the steps given on wiki here. And I flashed these images on nand from SD boot mode as per steps given here.

After this I’ve set the EVM switch S1[5:1] ==> 10010 and SW2? NAND ON. But when I power on the EVM, it shows only “CCCCC” on minicom.

Please guide me if I’m missing any switch setting or anything else.

I always see “CCCCC” on minicom whether nand is erased or u-boot images are flashed on nand. Does it mean that nand is not flashed properly? Or it is incorrect switch setting?

Please make sure all the switches on your EVM are in the state as described in section '2.4.14.1 Default Switch Settings of the EVM' in the EVM hardware user guide at this link:

Hi Archith,

The document, that you mentioned, talks about 6 switches; out of these six switched SW12 & SW14 are not present on my EVM, others are in default position only. I'm using EVM RevB and this document is for RevC.

Btw, what is the meaning of "CCCCC" in minicom?

Is there any major difference between RevB & RevC?

I'm using "ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_02_02_60" on RevB. And when I boot from SD card using default images, kernel booting hangs after "Linux video capture interface: v2.00"

I'm able to boot EVM from nand flash now.

Earlier I had connected IO Expansion board "Video Vision Application Board RevA" and this board was causing issue. I disconnected this board & now EVM is able to boot from nand.

I guess connecting Expansion board disables nand flash.

Mitul,

CCCCC is for U-Boot UART support. Specifically, it means to start X-Modem upload of u-boot.min.uart. What's likely happened is that your primary/secondary/etc boot selection has failed and the UART option is being tried.
