[FAQ] AM6412: VDDSHV5 connections if not using MMC1

Part Number: AM6412

Tool/software:

Hi,
In our design we're connecting an eMMC to MMC0 and not using MMC1.
Table 6-80 (of TRM) says:
VDDA_3P3_SDIO, CAP_VDDSHV_MMC1:
If SDIO_LDO is not used to power VDDSHV5, each of these balls must be connected directly to VSS.
So, we'll tie H15 and K15 to ground.
Do we need to supply any voltage to VDDSHV5 ('Voltage for the MMC1 IO group')? If not, how should L14 and L15 be connected?
Thanks,
Lee
  • I assume you were referencing the datasheet rather than the TRM, when mentioning how the unused SDIO_LDO pins should be connected.

The pins associated with MMC1 are implemented with standard LVCMOS IOs which have several multiplexed signals functions. Therefore, you need to power VDDSHV5 as described in the Pin Connectivity Requirements section of the datasheet.

There is a note just above the table you referenced that says "All power balls must be supplied with the voltages specified in the Recommended Operating Conditions section, unless otherwise specified"

    Regards,
    Paul
