AM625: GPMC NAND support

Genius 3186 points
Part Number: AM625

Tool/software:

Hi

May I have question about NAND memory connect to GPMC?

Q1 :

I think all of EVM that provided by TI does not have parallel NAND memory on EVMs.

Is there anything to EVM (including 3rd party board) can test GPMC? (Best is taht parallel NAND memory is on the board)

Q2 :

I think there is 2 type usecase of NAND memory, booting memory and strage memory.

I think booting memory is only 8-bit bus ONFI 1.0 NAND memory.

Q2-1

Could you let me know tested part number of parallel NAND flash for booting memory?

Q2-1

Could you let me know tested part number of NAND flash for strage?

(I believe API for GPMC is tested)

  • Hello GR,

I am looking at your queries and you may get reply in one or two days .

Yes, you are correct. There is no NAND device mounted on EVM's.

At TI, we have some external daughter cards with modifications PCB which connected to AM62X devices.

But, these daughter cards can't be used by customers directly.

We recently created external daughter cards for AM64X devices which are compatible with AM64X EVM's and not with AM62X devices.

I can confirm with team about this and let you know

Yes, you are correct in booting needs 8bit NAND memory.

In Application, you can use it till 16bit.

Yes, we have tested and we are using the part number below.

We are using 8-bit NAND memory.

    MT29F2G08AABWP/MT29F2G16AABWP
    MT29F4G08BABWP/MT29F4G16BABWP

I will suggest to my customer.

  • Hello GR,

Currently, we have an AM62X NAND memory interface card and users can't connect directly to AM62X devices and users need to do some PCB modifications on the NAND interface card. So, as of now, we don't have any plans to support this a daughter card on AM62X, but I have posted reply to Hw team as well.

If I get any details I will post to you.

    Regards,

    Anil.

  • Hello Anil,

And, I would appreciate if you could let me about inforamtion of 3rd party board that is on parallel NAND or connect easy.

Is there anything to EVM (including 3rd party board) can test GPMC? (Best is taht parallel NAND memory is on the board)

  • Hello GR,

Please give me some time . I need to check and get back to you on this .

    Regards,

    Anil.

  • Hello GR,

Internally discussed with Team and confirmed that TI does not provide any GPMC external interface cards to test GPMC.

Users need to make their own GPMC external interface card to test with AM62X or AM64X.

Third parties also do not provide these boards.

    Regards,

    Anil.

  • Hello Anil,

    Thanks for your information.

    I understand.

    Best regards,

    GR
