J721S2XSOMXEVM: Does FPD-III UB960 De-serializer is compatible with FPD-IV UB971 serializer

Part Number: J721S2XSOMXEVM

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are are trying to access the FPD-IV UB971 serializer using the FPD-III UB960 de-serializer.

The setup is like below:

Board 1 :  Custom board has J721s2-SOC connected to UB971 serializer via CSI-Tx.

Board 2 : J721s2-evm with Fusion1 board connected.

Both the boards are connected using serial Fakra cable.

The issue arises when we try to access the UB971 using the Fusion1 de-serialzier from the J721s2-EVM board. (Here the host is J721s2-EVM) . We are not able to detect the serializer, LOCK status bit of de-serializer is also '0'.

But when we use the Fusion2 board which has FPD-IV UB9702 de-serialzier, we are able to access the serializer, so hardware looks fine.

 So, the query is :

1. Is FPD-III UB960 de-serializer compatible with FPD-IV UB971?

2. Does FPD-IV UB971 serializer has the capability to fallback to FPD-III mode?

Thanks,

Jayanth.

  • Hi Jayanth,

I acknowledge your inquiries. Based on the UB971 datasheet,

    1. The UB971 is compatible with the UB960
    2. The UB971 has a FPD-Link III mode. I'm not sure what is meant by capability to fallback, however.

This does seem like an FPD-Link-specific question—can you please repost the question into the FPD-Link E2E forum for further support?

    Thanks and regards,
    Mark

  • Hi Mark,

    Thanks for the response.

I will repost the query in FPD-Link forum.

    Thanks,

    Jayanth
