TDA4VEN-Q1: robotics sdk suppport for TDA4VEN

Hello TI experts,

We're planning to build a product with TDA4VEN due to the fact that only TDA4VEN supports RGB IR 4x4 among the TDA4 family.

And also we'd like to use ros2 on the product.

So I'd like to know if it is possible to use robotics sdk for TDA4VEN, and if it's not then, at least is it possible to use ros2 on TDA4VEN?

Hi Juhyun,

Yes, Robotics SDK is supported on TDA4VEN. Software-wise, AM67A is almost identical to TDA4VEN in terms of Linux/ROS2.

Thanks for your reply.

As you mentioned AM67A, I skimmed the datasheet and compared between TDA4VEN and AM64A,
then I've found only the difference at functional safety.
Is it correct? or other differences?

Hi Juhyun,

Yes, mainly safety (ASIL vs SIL) and some rating differences (AEC-Q100 qualified vs non-qualified). In terms of functionality, available cores, they are the same.

However, there are also some differences in OS support (TDA4VEN supports RTOS/baremetal in addition to what AM67A supports while AM67A only supports Linux and Android). But this is mainly software support from TI and not differences due to hardware capabilities.
