SK-AM62B-P1: Custom board bring-up using MicroSD, fa00000.mmc: deferred probe pending

Part Number: SK-AM62B-P1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM625

Tool/software:

Hello TI,

May you advice how to fix below issue?

Firstly, we plan to bring up of board via MicroSD (later eMMC).

The kernel boot get stuck at the last line of the log.

Our target board device type is GP.

And our SDK 9.0:

    $ git clone git.ti.com/.../oe-layersetup.git tisdk
    $ cd tisdk
    $ ./oe-layertool-setup.sh -f configs/processor-sdk/processor-sdk-09.00.00-config.txt

    The issue is related to these failure logs related to the SD card power supply.

    Could you please go through the discussion on the following thread which discusses the same issue

  • Hello Prashant

    I checked the descussion in the link, at the last,  it was about PMIC and SoC I2C connection.

    However, in our custom board case, SDCard is connected directly to SoC; pin to pin.

    May you advice how to modify these kernel's device trees? Thanks.

  • Add, our custom board MMC1 connection interface (SDCard) is same as in reference PROC114E3_SCH.pdf.

  • Hello Prashant,

    May you help below issue?

    After follow the suggest in the given discussion link, only STORMBLUE MicroSD (MLC HC I (10)) works fine but other cards (e.g ScanDisk Ultra HC I (10)) don't. Those two brands MicroSD have same specification.

    ScanDisk Ultra kernel boot error/stuck:

  • Hi Paul,

    Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

    If the issue isn't resolved yet, could you please try the following patch to disable the UHS modes and run the SD card in HS mode only

    Thank for your support.

    Before I see your feedback, I try below work around solution and it works. Is it also the correct configuration?

  • Hello Paul,

    That is one of the ways to workaround the different SD card issues as suggested here

    https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM62X/09_02_01_10/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components/Kernel/Kernel_Drivers/Storage/MMC-SD.html#steps-for-working-around-sd-card-issues

    You may want to keep the bus-width to 4 (default) only but add "no-1-8-v;" property. The later will give better performance.

    Regards,

    Prashant
