Tool/software:

We are working on the thermal integration of the AM69A SoC. What is the default thermal behavior of the SoC and the related BSP (with regard to AVS, VTM)? Are there any preset temperature-crossing thresholds? If so, what are the frequency and voltage scaling characteristics associated with each of those?

Which version of the SDK are you using? AVS may not be implemented on earlier versions in which case you will need a patch to enable AVS.

We are using 9.2.4 ATM (AFAIK). Assuming that we would be using the latest version, what would be the answers to my questions?

Simon,

Vtm has max temperature thresholds setup by the vtm driver. So 123C will be the max temperature and once SoC reaches that temperature then SoC will be held under reset.

AVS is enabled for AM69.

Besides resetting the SoC after the maximum temperature has been reached, is there any other management activities the VTM would be configured to do by default (e.g. scaling voltages and/or frequencies)?

We do not support voltage scaling on AM69. So maximum temperature is the only action to reset the SOC.

It's worth noting that the VTM includes thresholds for interrupt generation. The "best" thing to do would be to somehow throttle back your application (reduce loading, features of the application) such that when temperatures are approaching dangerous levels you avoid reaching the TSHUT/123C temperature.
