AM67: ECAP and EPWM questions

Hi Sirs

We are designing AM67 now, and we want some PWM signals for camera and display application.

I see there are two kind of modules which can generate PWM signal in AM67 module, ECAP and EPWM, but my question as below

1. There are two output for each EPWM module, can they be independent PWM signal?

IF yes, so I can get totally 6 independent PWM signals (3 EPWM modules in AM67), right?

2. There are three ECAP modules in AM67, so if description 1 is right, I can get 9 independent PWM signals (6 from EPWM module, 3 from ECAP module)

is that true?

Hello,

AM67 has 3 EPWM instances and 14 TIMERS . All these can be used to generate independent PWM signals.

ECAP module is used to capture the PWM signal but not generate the pulse.

For ECAP, the description in datasheet mentions that Enhanced Capture (ECAP) Input or Auxiliary PWM (APWM) Output

Is APWM not PWM signal?

Hello louis,

Yes,

EWM for each instance two independent PWM outputs that can be used in different configurations (with single-edge operation, with
dual-edge symmetric operation or one independent PWM output with dual-edge asymmetric operation)

ECAP When not being used for event capture, its resources can be used to generate a single channel of asymmetrical PWM waveforms.

But TI SDK SW support on ECAP in MCUSW is confined to capture , whereas timers can also be used to generate PWM waveforms.

May I know the maximum output PWM period of EPWM and Timer of AM67 processor?

I see there are some characteristic information in datasheet, but not really understand the parameter of P, please see them as below

P (function clock period in ns) in timer

P (sysclk period in ns.) in EPWM
