AM625: Reserved Boot Mode Pins BOOTMODE14 and BOOTMODE15

Part Number: AM625

Tool/software:

Hello,

Boot Mode Pins chapter seems to force to pull up or pull down BOOTMODE14 and BOOTMODE15 pins. As they are indicated ad Reserved, are they actually read by ROM in order to execute something specific or are they "don't care" (like many other Reserved pin configurations) and I can control them up or down as I prefer during boot time?

Thank you,

Ruggero

  • Ruggero,

any pin designated as reserved for a particular boot mode is not used by ROM.  However, they cannot just be left floating, you must either pull them up or down on your board.

    Regards,

    James

  • Hi James,

Why can't be left floating,  will it impact IO life time or AM62x functionality?

One of my customer's design overlooked the notes on TRM, only pulled bootmode[0:6], others are in floating.

Read DEVSTAT register from CCS, upper floating pins all are sampled as "1".

  • Hi Tony, yes, part of it is IO life time.  Also, they may be sampling "1" on some boards, but that could change to "0" if they are floating, which will affect boot mode that is selected (or the options for a particular boot mode) for non-reserved pins.

    Regards,

    James
