Can DM8148’s PCIe driver support PCIe-to-PCI bridge??

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XIO2001, XIO3130

Hi

Can DM8148’s PCIe driver support PCIe-to-PCI bridge??

if not, have any plan to do it in the future ?

thanks

Tom Chen

  • Hi,

I need to check to be 100% but I think it should. The reason is because the intellegnece of bridging, i.e. capability of interfacing to two different buses is the sole responsiblity of the bridge. From our perspective we are talking to PCIe interface part of the bridge. It is upto the bridge to do translate to the respective interface requirement.

I will check on this and if I do not update this post, you can assume that the above claim is true.

    Best regards, Zegeye

  • Hi,

have any update from your side.

    how about TI's PCIe Bus Translation Bridge: XIO2001 & PCI Express 4-Port 4-Lane Packet Switch: XIO3130 ?

is the lunix driver ready to support XIO2001 & XIO3130on DM8148??

  • Yes, the DM8148 PCIe driver supports a PCIe->PCI bridge in Linux.  We are currently using the TI XIO2001 evaluation board with the Mistal board.

One thing to note, be careful on PCI drivers, there are various modifications that may be necessary.
