How to change HDMI out resolution

Hi,

We have beagle board running android and we are using Samsung LCD 22'' TV as display.

It displays resolution as 640x480 and was working fine.

But few old models of samsung TVs displays "mode not supported". Is there any way to the change the HDMI out resolution from beagle board?

Hi Vetrivel,

Please check for supported resolution and add following line to your boot parameters to change resoltion.

e.g.

omapdss.def_disp=dvi omapfb.mode=dvi:640x480-16'

where omapfb.mode=dvi:<x resolution>x<y-resolution>-<bpp>'

Complete boot args will look like -

setenv bootargs 'console=ttyO2,115200n8 androidboot.console=ttyO2 mem=256M root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext3 rootdelay=1 \
init=/init ip=off omap_vout.vid1_static_vrfb_alloc=y vram=8M omapfb.vram=0:8M omapdss.def_disp=dvi omapfb.mode=dvi:640x480-16''

Hi Pankaj,

We have added the lines mentioned by you in the boot.scr file.

We are getting CRC error and system is not booting.

Hi Vetrivel,

You need not edit boot.scr directly.

To create boot.scr, download tools from

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_tii/TI_Android_DevKit/TI_Android_GingerBread_2_3_4_DevKit_2_1/index_FDS.html under Component Downloads section.

and refer to mk-bootscr utility readme to create boot.scr file.

You can also use following commands on u-boot prompt to boot board without boot.scr file.

Commands:

# < your boot args (setenv bootargs '...' ) >

# mmc init 0

# fatload mmc 0 0x82000000 uImage

# bootm 0x82000000

Thanks it working fine.

we are facing another issue while doing auto mount for USB.

we followed the process as mentioned in

still we are unable to do auto mount for USB.

Hi Pankaj,

we are still facing issues regarding auto mount for external storage.

we have already tried changing the vold.conf files. still we are facing same issues. whether there is any possible way of mounting USB from application.

I think you are modifying wrong configuration file.

Please modify <your file system>/system/etc/vold.fstab file as mentioned in the previous post link and try again.

Hi Pankaj,

We want to give mounting control to user. USB has to be mounted on clicking a button in the application. Is it possible to run system command from application. (Runtime.getRuntime.exec( ) ).
