TDA4VM: How to implement the SDL?

Part Number: TDA4VM

Tool/software:

Hi Ti,

We are working to implement SDL. We have RTOS packages that contain the SDL, where all SDL modules can be built separately. We have some doubts.

The link below: does it belong to prebuilt combined SDL modules? Is there any prebuilt SDL combined module to check the safety of the entire SoC?

https://www.ti.com/lit/fs/sffs721/sffs721.pdf?ts=1705874425712

Do we need to combine all of them? If we need to combine them, is it required to get the SIL certification for that?

  • Hi,

You have to integrate the modules specific to your safety usecase to satisfy the safety diagnostics listed in the safety manual, that pertain to the safety coverage that you wish to achieve.

SDL only provides templates and examples to act as a reference for you safety diagnostic measures.

  • Hi,

We are working on a project based on industrial safety, and we need to implement safety features on the TDA4VM. If we implement the SDL modules in the TDA4VM, is it necessary to get a SIL certificate for the SDL module?

The link below is for the certificate for SDL API or hardware components:

    www.ti.com/.../sffs721.pdf

Is it necessary to request the TDA4VM Safety Documentation from TI?

  • Hi,

The link below is for the certificate for SDL API or hardware components:

This certificate is for the SDL for ASIL-D/SIL-3. SIL certification is part of the SDL certificate. If you change the library in your implementation, then you would have to get it re-certified.

Is it necessary to request the TDA4VM Safety Documentation from TI?

Yes, the safety manual has all the safety diagnostics listed that you would have to implement in order to attain safety coverage.
