I need to use TVP5158 as a capture device, but current ezsdk_5_02_02_60 hasn't support the device yet,

I need the capturer device urgently and I cann't wait the new ezsdk in the further, what can I do?

If I had added the driver of TVP5158 to the current kernel, What do I need to do next?

Do I need to modify the VPSS driver, or modify the firmware of VPSS M3 core, or both?

If I decide to solve the prolem myself, Does the above method is doable?

Hi,

Controlling TVP5158 will only be possible if you are not using any other encoder/decoder. This is because ezsdk currently controls all the encoders/decoders from Media controller binary. All encoders/decoders are on same I2C instance. I2C can be used by either Media controller or A8.

Thanks for your help.

What you said is that A8 can also control TVP5158 and configure it through the I2C bus, But I would like to check the follow points:

1. The data captured by TVP5158 is send to DM8168 throug the VIP parser port of VPSS. is it correct?

2. The handle of VIP parser module is controlled by M3 VPSS firmware or VPSS driver module( vpss.ko ) ,

If it is M3 VPSS firmware, then I can do nothing, and I cann't use TVP5158 device to capture data;

If it is VPSS driver module( vpss.ko), Maybe I can modify the driver, then I can use TVP5158, Is it a doable method?

Yes, you are correct

Its handle by M3 VPSS Firmware

Yes,

You need to use Multichannel Framework SDK from TI to use TVP6=5158. You cant control it through A8 as of now.
