TDA4VH-Q1: read/write pmic register in u-boot

Part Number: TDA4VH-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS6594-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

I want to disable watch dog in u-boot, the tyep of pmic chip is tps6594-q1. For now,  the board reboot every 13 mins.

I read the reg0x406 and 0x409 in u-boot,

value of reg0x406 is 0xa0

value of reg0x409 is 0x2c

the value of 0x406 and 0x409 I read in kernel is different

/# i2ctransfer -f -y 1 w2@0x48  0x4 0x05 r5

0x33 0x2c 0x03 0x2c 0x33

Why values in u-boot and kernel is different?

And how can I disable watch dog

  • Hi,

    I want to disable watch dog in u-boot, the tyep of pmic chip is tps6594-q1. For now,  the board reboot every 13 mins.

    I read the reg0x406 and 0x409 in u-boot,

    Usually the slave ID has 0x0 -- 0xFF registers.

    So 0x406 maps to slave ID 0x4C and register offset 0x6

    Can you use

    i2c md 0x4C 0x6

    In the U-Boot & check if they change in kernel?

  • Hi, Keerthy

    I've tried in i2c md 0x4C 0x6  U-boot, but it didn't work

    The configuration in U-boot dts:

    &wkup_pmx0 {
    + wkup_i2c0_pins_default: wkup-i2c0-pins-default {
    + pinctrl-single,pins = <
    + J784S4_WKUP_IOPAD(0x098, PIN_INPUT, 0) /* (N33) WKUP_I2C0_SCL */
    + J784S4_WKUP_IOPAD(0x09C, PIN_INPUT, 0) /* (N35) WKUP_I2C0_SDA */
    + >;
    + };

    pinctrl-single,pins = <
    J784S4_WKUP_IOPAD(0x000, PIN_OUTPUT, 0) /* (E32) MCU_OSPI0_CLK */

    };

    &wkup_i2c0 {
    - status = "disabled";
    + status = "okay";
    + u-boot,dm-spl;
    + pinctrl-names = "default";
    + pinctrl-0 = <&wkup_i2c0_pins_default>;
    + clock-frequency = <400000>;
    };

  • Hi,Keerthy

    I can access 0x401 - 0x40A register throuth mcu_i2c0 connected to i2c2 port of pmic.

    enable mcu_i2c0 and use

    i2c mw 0x12 0x09 0xbf

    can disable watch dog
