TDA4VM: Eth Trcv get stuck in initialization loop.

Hi,

May I know which SDK version you are using? 

Also, can you please confirm are you using ETH Application or Eth Virtual MAC application?

Can you please check is Link is Up or not? If Link is not Up you may see failure from Eth_Trcv module.

We are using MCAL and version is  MCUSW_09_00_00_15_CONFIG.

I working on custom application, not an example from MCAL.

We are using Trace32 as debug environment.

*If possible could you please let me know how to debug mcal example on Trace32 instead of CCS.

i have tried it, but it is not loading.

Do you mean, debug logs on UART instead of CCS ?
You need to enable "UART_ENABLED" Macro invoke Board_init with UART init flag from main function.
You can refer to other MCAL example applications.

I think in 9.2 SDK logs are output to UART terminal instead of CCS console. Please check once.

Using Lauterbach debugger with Trace32.

We are not using on-board debugger, instead we are using external debugger.

Is it possible to debug/test MCAL example applications with Lauterbach debugger, it required ".cmm" scripts?

HI,

Let me check internally and get back to you, I haven't tested with Lauterbach.
If you disable UART, prints will be routed to console of debugger.

MCAL example application may not required separate scripts but, for bring up device you need ."cmm" scripts similar to ".gel" scripts in CCS debugger.

Once device is up, you can load the example application on core by connecting to it.

For prints related, please refer to above comment "UART_ENABLED" is enabled by default and all debug prints will come on MCU_UART.
If you disable above then prints will be output on console of debugger.

Continuously running within highlighted functions.

i have taken  BoardUtils_setCpsw0Pinmux() from Mcal examples.

Do i need to consider  Intc_Init();Intc_SystemEnable(); functions also?

PHY Alive is used to check if PHY is active or not.

Please check code flow and call stack once.
The actual call flow would be as follows.
Eth_triggermiiReadAync -> Eth_triggerMiiReadSyncManual -> CpswMdio_readPhyReg-> CpswMdio_manualPhyRegRead22

Yes, it is for enabling ARM core interrupts.

I have adapted our OS counter, with mcal demo reference counter.

Now both Eth & Eth_Trcv modules are getting initialized.

The communication is not getting up. but transmission is working when i run Mcal eth_test_app example before my actual application.

Is it possible to have a debug session tomorrow?

This issue is pending from a long.

What do you mean by communication is not up, but the transmission is working?

Without Link Up Initialization of Eth_Trcv module itself will fail.

Update from Today's call:

Pointed the MCUSW User Guide for PHY MDIO tuning.
Also, pointed Os Counter (PMU) initialization files in SDK.
Also, Explained the dependencies for ETH module (Sciclient, Osal, CSL from PDK). Design Guide also talks about the same. Pointed the same reference code from default Eth examples.

i have tried to integrate (Sciclient, Osal, CSL) modules from PDK, but still there is a dependency of other modules from PDK.

and there are errors of multiple definition of same Symbole in different files.

Now i am trying to build PDK to include Obj/libraries in our integration.

Dependency of PDK modules with MCAL is complex and getting lot of dependency errors during compilation.

It is very difficult to identify required source files/functions from PDK.

Do you have any inputs regarding, need files to integrate with MCAL?

I recommend to build the PDK and include the libraries into ETH example.
As I have pointed a reference in Last call, use ETH example make file from TI SDK and follow the similar in your side.

• There are differences between precompile and linktime/postbuild configuration.

• As we are not using interrupts in our application, is Eth example supports in polling method by changing as below?

Yes, TI ETH example (eth_test_app)supports polling method as well.

You need to disable "Eth_GetTxEnableInterrupt" & "Eth_GetRxEnableInterrupt" as FALSE from ETH configuration (Eth_Cfg.h file).
