SK-AM64B: Backup Boot Mode Ethernet not Working

Part Number: SK-AM64B

Tool/software:

Hi There,

we succesfully tested Ethernet (primary) bootmode on the SK EVM board. There were BOOTP packages and TFTP transfer started.

But the target for our application is to use eMMC as primary bootmode. (Which we sucessfully tested on EVm board.) And use Ethernet boot for new devices, whose eMMC is not programmed yet.

Thus we set up SD card as primary bootmode and Ethernet as backup bootmode. We used the bootmode switch settings as described in the AM64x SK EVM Users Guide, Figure 4-10.

Then we booted the SK EVM with no SD card in the connector. But there was no activity on the second Ethernet port.

We tried to use eMMC as primary bootmode, which should fail, too, as there is no such devcie on the board. But still no fall back to Ethernet.

What could possibly have gone wrong?

Did we miss some difference between primary and backup bootmode?

(The setup is still the same as for primary Ethernet bootmode, which still worked when switching back to verify the setup.)

Best regards,
Joachim
