AM623: Optimizing Boot Image Size

Hi,

I want to reduce the size of my boot images. Is it possible to decrease the size by removing some modules that won't impact the boot process?

My current image sizes are:

tiboot3.bin: 284K
tispl.bin: 1.2M
u-boot.img: 963K

Hi Aparna,

Sorry for the delay, We have a 4 MB(0x2000) boot partition, but it's too small to include the uEnv.txt file. To fit everything into this 4 MB boot partition using the USB-DFU method, we need to reduce the size of the images.

Hi Murali,

There is no need to reduce their sizes. The default images with their sizes along with uEnv.txt can fit into 4MB. You can partition like: tiboot3.bin => 512KB, tispl.bin => 1.5MB, u-boot.img => 1.5MB, uEnv.txt => 512KB

The dfu_alt_info for DFU flashing will then be:

setenv dfu_alt_info "tiboot3 raw 0x0 0x400 mmcpart 1;tispl raw 0x400 0xC00 mmcpart 1;u-boot raw 0x1000 0xC00 mmcpart 1;u-env raw 0x1C00 0x400 mmcpart 1;tisdk-base part 0 1";dfu 0 mmc 0;
