AM625: about usb mode

I have a question about the mode of usb. When the hardware design usbn_ID is connected to the ground, the data manual says host only, but I configured it as peripheral mode in the device tree, and the mode in the am62 configuration /sys/kernal/debug/usb/ is device mode. The usb gadget is also started normally. I want to ask, why does this happen?

I noticed this part of the instructions, but my device tree is configured in otg mode, and the usb_ID is connected to the ground, but the device is still configured in device mode. What is the reason?

Hi Hao,

The USBn_ID pin is only relevant when dr_mode is set to "otg" in device tree. The pin is ignored when dr_mode is set to either "peripheral" or "host".

I can't find a usb-ID pin for it. Is it a usb-raclib pin?

Hi Hao,

AM62x devices actually do not have a dedicated USB_ID pin. The software configures the USB controller to enter either host or device mode based on the use cases.

If USB type-C port is used, the USB type-C device driver will detect whether the USB port is attached to a USB host or device, then notify the USB controller driver to enter device or host mode accordingly.

If USB micro-AB port is used, the connector ID pin should connect to an AM62x GPIO pin, the kernel GPIO driver will detect the GPIO pin state changes and notify the USB controller driver to enter host or device mode accordingly.
