AM625SIP: ADC interface using AM625SIP

Part Number: AM625SIP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPM0L1306, LP-MSPM0L1306

Tool/software:

Hi AM62x Champ !

My customer would like to attach external ADC solution for AM625SIP board.

Could you please recommend an appropriate ADC IC for AM625SIP custom board?

Thanks.

Best Regards,

Jack

  • Hi Jack,

    Thank you for your query.

Let me discuss this internally with the team and get back to you.

In the meanwhile, can you let me know if you have any specific requirements for the ADC. For example, are you looking for a serial or parallel ADC, any specific resolution  or timing requirement etc?

    Regards,

    Nitika

  • Hi Nitika

There's no specific external ADC requirement.

For the time being, let's have the same spec with AM64x.

    • 1× 12-Bit Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) – Up to 4MSPS – 8× multiplexed analog inputs

It's required to provide the device tree/driver support as well.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Hello Jack,

    Something like this?

  • Hi Nick

    Thanks for your kind answer.

    Customer decided to evaluate MSPM0-ADC.

Could you please check the interface btw AM625SIP and MSPM0?

Let me raise a new thread for interface review task.

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Jack

  • Hello Jack,

I think you are saying that no further responses are needed on this thread, and you will create a new thread if the customer has followup questions on evaluating MSPM0-ADC. If that is not correct, feel free to reply to this thread and we can continue the conversation.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Nick

    Thanks for your kind repoly.

My customer would like to clarify the followings even though the interfacing is very clear.

Please check the attachment for the interfacing btw AM62x and MSPM0L1306.

    6281.AM625SIP-MSPM0 IF.xlsx

    1. Please tell me which of the 16 pins of MSPM0L1306 are required to be connected and which are not for ADC use case.

Please comment on which pins are required to be connected and how to handle unused pins if not used.

    2. They ask if the peripheral circuitry (power capacitor capacity, etc.) can be used according to (MCU099_LP-MSPM0L1306 with PCB.pdf).

    3. if they want to connect a debugger, can they just connect SWDIO, SWCLK two wires with AM62 MCU or do they need other wires?

-> I think they can connect XDS Debugger according to following diagram. not with AM62x. right? I don't know why they are confused.

The following diagram has been introduced via application what you provided.

    * Connection btw AM62x and MSPM0L1306

    Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Jack

  • Hey Jack,
The pins related to SPI communication [the pins 4,9,10,11 in your attachment] are mandatory for the SPI communication between AM62x and MSPM0.

As for the ADC0 pins [1,12,13,14 in your attachment] are dependent on the user application. ADC0 can take inputs from multiple channels and sample them in sequential mode [if more than one are used]. Which pin is to be used depends on which channel for the ADC is configured. Customer may refer to the following example in MSPM0 SDK:

    <MSPM0SDK>\examples\nortos\LP_MSPM0L1306\driverlib\adc12_sequence_conversion
    .

For your other queries, I will reroute them to the respective experts.

    Thanks

The focus of the application note is the interface between the SOC and MSPMO and read the ADC values.

This could be beat answered by the M0 team.

Please start a new thread with title MSPM0L1306 design (Do not include SOC number) to reach out to the M0 team.
