J784S4XEVM: J784S4XG01EVM - Couldn't find /opt/edgeai-gst-apps

Thanks for sharing the information. I believe what you have shared is related to Yocto build. However, I am following the methods given in this https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j784s4/09_02_00_05/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components_Kernel.html# link, which involves using the Linux SDK installer and building with the kernel source provided inside the board-support/ti-linux-kernel-6.1.80+gitAUTOINC+2e423244f8-ti/ this directory.

Kindly help me get the edgeai-gst-apps with this method.

I am using this ti-processor-sdk-linux-adas-j784s4-evm-09_02_00_05-Linux-x86-Install.bin and installing the sources in my host setup and preparing my SD card using ti-processor-sdk-linux-adas-j784s4-evm-09_02_00_05/bin/create-sdcard.sh. Even in this I am not finding this /opt/edgeai-gst-apps directory.

Then, for building and installing the kernel, I am using the kernel source inside present in this ti-processor-sdk-linux-adas-j784s4-evm-09_02_00_05/board-support/ti-linux-kernel-6.1.80+gitAUTOINC+2e423244f8-ti/ directory and following the steps given in this https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j784s4/09_02_00_05/exports/docs/linux/Foundational_Components_Kernel.html link. Even after this am not finding this /opt/edgeai-gst-apps directory.

When we were doing it for TDA4VM Kit with its prebuilt image (.wic.xz) given in its processor page, we can able to get this directory straight away. But not for this TDA4VH kit.

Are we making any mistakes or misunderstanding any concepts here? Kindly help us clarify.

Note: I am not using yocto build as of now. I am just using the kernel source give in the ti-processor-sdk-linux-adas-j784s4-evm-09_02_00_05/board-support/ti-linux-kernel-6.1.80+gitAUTOINC+2e423244f8-ti/ directory. 

Kindly let us know the changes to make to get the /opt/edgeai-gst-apps directory.

As per your suggestion. we followed the Yocto build instructions by adding echo 'ARAGO_BRAND = "edgeai"' >> conf/local.conf. This resulted in the creation of the image tisdk-edgeai-image-j784s4-evm-20240923083404.rootfs.wic.xz, which we flashed onto an SD card using balenaEtcher. 

However, when we attempted to boot the kit, we encountered issues. We connected via the J49 connector using minicom, and the USB devices listed were /dev/ttyUSB0, /dev/ttyUSB1, /dev/ttyUSB2 and /dev/ttyUSB3. We opened all these devices but were unable to receive any boot logs or output to control the kit. Additionally, we did not see any display output on either the J8 or J9 connectors.

In contrast, it works fine when flashed with the image tisdk-adas-image-j784s4-evm-20240821121422.rootfs.wic.xz built using echo 'ARAGO_BRAND = "adas"' >> conf/local.conf. In this case, we used /dev/ttyUSB0, and I can able to see the boot logs and can able to control the system.

What are we missing here ? Kindly help us with edgeai part here.

Try running the following and following these steps again.

MACHINE=j721e-evm bitbake -c cleanall tisdk-edgeai-image
MACHINE=j721e-evm bitbake -k tisdk-edgeai-image

We have tried the same. We are building for J784s4-evm and below are the steps we followed
echo 'ARAGO_BRAND = "edgeai"' >> conf/local.conf
MACHINE=j784s4-evm bitbake -k tisdk-edgeai-image
Then flashed the SD card using the final image and tried booting the kit and it is not booting up and we cannot see any logs through minicom too.
we have followed the entire steps given in this link https://software-dl.ti.com/jacinto7/esd/processor-sdk-linux-j784s4/latest/exports/docs/linux/Overview_Building_the_SDK.html, replaced adas with edgeai as we are in need of edgeai build.

The same when tried with adas instead of edgeai, it works fine and can see kit getting booted at that time. But we are in need of edgeai build.
