What does “Lock-step” mean for McASP serializers?

Hi,

I would like to ask some question on C6000's  McASP.

In TMS320DM643x DMP Multichannel Audio Serial Port (McASP) User's Guide (Rev. D), all serializers are described as working in "lock-step" mode. How to understand "lock-step" here?

As shown in Figure 2 and 3, output signals on different channels are generally not the same. So how could they be called "lock-step"?

To me the description "lock-step" has created some confusion. Could anyone explain it more clearly?
