Hi TI,

We are exploring AM625-Q1 processor ,we want to use this in our robotic application.We have some confusion in below things can you hlep us,

As we need EtherCAT communication,can you suggest a physical layer chip which will act as a EtherCAT communication over ethernet port?we are looking into DP83867IRRGZ chip is it support for ethercat?

If we will go with this particular chip is there any thing required to change in software stack(device tree)

Hi Debashis,

As Pekka mentioned, "We test with the PHYs on https://www.ti.com/tool/TMDS64EVM and https://www.ti.com/tool/LP-AM243 using DP83869 https://www.ti.com/product/DP83869HM . We use this PHY in order to also be able to run gigabit protocols in addtion to 100M EtherCAT."

This would be our recommended PHY for EtherCAT. Because it was tested on our EVMs, there would be no need to change the device tree since DP83869 should already be included in our EVM device tree.

Which particular chip are you looking at? DP83867 or our recommendation of DP83869?

If looking at DP83867 why are you specifically targeting that chip?

EtherCAT subdevice/slave requires special IP at the MAC level, AM64x is currently the only AM6x device where we support that. The PHY needs are very specific on the subdevice/slave/ESC side. For the EtherCAT main/master, I don't believe there are significant requirements on the PHY, so if you are looking for AM62x as EtherCAT main the exact PHY requirements are less strict.
